Statement of Faith

We believe that the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It is the supreme authority for all our beliefs and practices. No other document shall take precedence over the Bible in the life, decisions, and governance of this church.
2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Psalm 119: 89

We believe in One God, the Creator and Sustainer of all things, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; 2 Corinthians 3:17

We believe in Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, who became a human being without ceasing to be God, in order that he might reveal God, redeem sinful humanity, and draw all creation to a right relationship with God, through his sacrificial death on the cross. He was raised again from the dead and now reigns as the living Lord. He will come again in a manner that is personal, visible, and bodily, to restore all things to their rightful place under his lordship.
John 1: 1, 12, 14, 18; Philippians 2:5-11; John 14:1-3; Acts 1:11; Corinthians 15:3-4; Colossians 2:9

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came to bear witness to Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He indwells all true believers as a guarantee of their inheritance; he guides and empowers them for life and ministry.
John 14:26; 15:26; 16:7-8; Ephesians 1:13-14

We believe that humanity was created in the image of God and enjoyed an intimate relationship with him. However, because of sin and disobedience, that relationship was broken. Separated from the source of life, humanity is under the judgment of God and is utterly unable by its own power to remedy its lost condition.
Genesis 1:26-30; 2:7; 3:1-7, 23-24; Romans 3:23

We believe that God is committed to restoring all creation to a right relationship with himself. Salvation is the gift of God offered to all humanity by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, who died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sin.
John 3:16-17; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Timothy 2:3-6; 1 John 2:1-2

We believe that the church was established by Jesus Christ and consists of all true followers of Jesus Christ. He alone is the head of the church. As the body of Christ, the church exists to bear witness to the gospel of Christ and to extend the kingdom of God in the world by making disciples. The church is visibly embodied in an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel.
Matthew 16:15-19; 28:18-20; Ephesians 3:10-11

We believe that Believer’s Baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper are the two ordinances established by Christ, and are to be valued and observed. Believer’s Baptism is a public act of obedience declaring a person’s faith and commitment to Christ, and symbolizes the believer’s union with Christ in his death, burial, and resurrection. The observance of the Lord’s Supper commemorates and celebrates the sacrificial death of our Savior Jesus Christ, and looks forward to his return.
Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:1-6; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17; 11:23-26

We believe that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage is the union of one man and one woman in an exclusive covenant commitment for a lifetime. The sanctity of marriage is to be honored by all.
