And Be Thankful

(This week we have another guest writer for the Ponderings:

Adrian Ocampo. A songwriter and rapper, Adrian has chosen to write using a format with which he is most familiar. So this time, the Ponderings is in verse. Read, reflect, be blessed.)

In the Word I always read it.
Always see it repeated.
But in one way or another I’m struggling just to be it.
The enemy takes my hope and hopes he can deplete it.
Distorts the resurrection, makes me think I am defeated.
Let me step back, gain the perspective to see.
Three nails shed His blood and broke the shackles off my feet.
That is more than enough for a grateful heart.
Infinite love got me singing “how great You are.”
I was broken, I was low, but You fixed me up.
My throat ran dry, then You filled my cup.
Now I feast on the Bread of Life, this I don’t deserve.
Can never match what You give, so praise and thanks I will return.
Even every hard lesson from the Father is a lesson well learned.
A Christ-like heart is what my soul really yearns.
With everything I say, Lord, with everything I do,
I want my life to be an expression of my thankfulness to You.
